About Artform Home Plans

Artform Home Plans is a division of Art Form Architecture, Inc., based in Portsmouth, NH, owned by architect Wendy Welton.  We specialize in home design - for additions and renovations as well as predesigned, custom and semi-custom new home design.  Our Northern interpretation of the Craftsman Bungalow is well suited to a climate with high highs, low lows, and something called "mud season."   Cottages, Colonials and New Englanders combine a bit of whimsy with modern amenities, like plenty of storage, open floorplans and low maintenance exterior detailing.  Many of our designs draw on our nation's history, but there's plenty of modern innovation as well.  How do you think all those unique and interesting older homes came about?  Some brave designer did something new!  Whether you need a large or small home plan - if we don't have it, we can design it.

We at Artform Home Plans aim to bring great home design to a wider audience than is served by traditional architectural practice.   Our mission:

1. Bring you great design, designs that homeowners are happy to call home
2. To communicate that design in a way that you understand - from 3D views during design to clear and current construction drawings.
3. To do that all at a cost and in a time frame that meets home buyers' and builders' needs.

We can meet virtually all your home design and documentation (except in about 5 states where licensing laws restrict home design to residents or architects licensed in that state)

The majority of the designs are by owner Wendy Welton, RA. Wendy is a graduate of Pratt Institute and is licensed to practice architecture in New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. She's been working in the field since 1986, was first licensed to practice architecture in 1998 and has specialized in residential design since 2001, when she founded Art Form Architecture, Inc.

We are proud to also feature plans by Bryce Engstrom, AIA, LEED AP, of Arroyo Grande, California. Bryce brings his skill with craftsman, spanish, modern and northwest/mountain home plans. Bryce is a LEED AP and is particularly skilled in California and environmental permitting issues. Feel free to contact him directly about either our plans or your other projects. Allen Colburn Jr. of Pascoag, RI anchors plan production. Allen is a builder, skilled using Chief Architect®, and trained to Artform methods and standards.  

Holly Ciampa runs the office, prepares a lot of the marketing material, contributes to production, and keeps Wendy on task. OK, Holly does pretty much everything.  Holly has degrees in Architectural Technology from UNH and in Interior Design from Hesser College. 

Jesse Ware contributes contributes LEED AP expertise and manages some Builder Accounts in Southern Maine. Jesse is a builder with a background in traditional construction, post and beam, SIPS and fine millwork and is a LEED AP. 

Kelsea Larson is our newest team member.  Kelsea studied architecture at the Wentworth Institute of Technology.  Kelsea prepares a lot of the marketing material and is learning to do nearly everything Holly does.
