Builders - We have subscription plans for as few as 2 plans that let you build different designs at "re-use" prices, and even exchange a plan when your home buyer needs something else. We're keeping up with the changing market - providing plans that sell homes in the new economy, in 2009. We have marketing licenses with high quality images for MLS and your in-house book - 3 designs for each plan purchase, or $50 as stand-alone purchase. All our plans are vetted by a builder. We do constant follow up, both phone and in the field, to see how we can improve our framing, our drawings and our designs.

Green Home Plans / Leed Home Plans

Energy Analysis - Buck Taylor's Advanced Energy service includes a scientific analyis of your chosen design in your climate on your lot. Did you know that there's a "tipping point" for where increasing insulation, increasing or decreasing roof overhangs or other design changes can reduce the size of your heating/cooling equipment? We do. Did you know that this can offset the cost of that added insulation? We do. We're pretty sure you get the part where it will save money on your utility bills. But, did you know that it might also gain you LEED points or help you meet an alternate Green standard, and that this might help you qualify for tax incentives?
Advanced Energy detailing is included with every plan. Did you know that through nothing more than strategically placed sealants in the framing, that you can drastically reduce air infiltration?
Green specifications - If you're having trouble sorting through which material is really "green" and which is "greenwash", we can help. Any of our LEED AP or other green credentialed artform consultants can help you with any home design. It doesn't have to be one they designed. It doesn't even have to be an Artform Home Plan! Bryce Engstrom, AIA is LEED AP and intimately familiar with the complex California permitting process. Builder discounts and low-cost re-use fees available. We have subscription plans for as few as 2 plans, that make the cost of plans fit typical spec and semi-spec builder's budgets.
Affordable changes - If you need an on-line review session or some changes to make the sale, we'll make it happen - and we'll "keep it real" on the charges. We treat our repeat customers very well.
Exchanges are allowed for repeat and subscription builders! The market changes, a prospective buyer wants something entirely different...
Permitting Adaptations included - You code officer wants a specific note about sump pits? No problem. Requires railings per NFPA instead of IRC 2006? No problem. Wants more dimensions on those bedroom windows over the walk-out? It's as good as done. And by "no problem", in the vast majority of cases, that means "no charge."
Coordination with local professionals - We'll provide Autocad or Chief Architect format background drawings to your licensed architect or engineer at no additional charge. (Some limitations apply - call for details.)

- Green Home Design for the Real World

Great design is green, because it lasts. Sustainability is like dieting. If you can't live with it, you won't keep it up. If we design for beauty as well as function, these houses have a much better chance of lasting 100 years, or 200 years - and that's green.
Bright means smart. We need to spend your green dollars wisely. That means solid basics first - like insulation, the right house for your lot and climate, window choice and placement, and quality construction - then we can move on to advanced technologies like geothermal and solar.
Smaller is green, both for your wallet and for the environment. Did you know that there's a full 20 points of LEED points related strictly to the size of the house relative to the number of bedrooms? Too big is wasteful. Too small can backfire as well, by not sustaining your life. If half the house ends up in a landfill in five years, that's wasteful also.

Aging in Place and Accessibility

Ground floor bedrooms are just the beginning. Aging also brings changes in eyesight, different social needs, new hobbies...
Disabilities are not one-size-fits-all. The right design for a wheelchair is not the right design for balance issues. Because our designers are all professionals, we can design or adapt to fit your specific needs.
